Our teachers
We intend to have regular courses in a seminar style with experienced and qualified teachers, as well as guest speaking events and panel discussions. Our first teacher is Martin Black.
Dr Martin Black
Martin graduated from Boston University in 2009 with a PHD in Philosophy on Plato that was supervised by Stanley Rosen. He has edited two volumes of Rosen’s selected essays and his final work, an interpretation of Plato’s Phaedrus. Martin has also published essays on Plato, the crisis of modernity, and self-knowledge, and is working on a book on modernity and classical philosophy.
Over the last two decades, Martin has taught dozens of courses in philosophy, classics and political theory at universities and other institutions in the USA and Australia, including Boston College, Boston University, Suffolk University and La Trobe University. One of Our Teachers: PROFESSOR stanley Rosen (1929-2014)
Two member of the ISP committee studied for their PhD with Professor Stanley Rosen, the then Borden Parker Bowne Professor of Philosophy and Professor Emeritus at Boston University. Rosen wrote 19 books and over 150 articles on the core philosophical problems and philosophers, including works on Plato, Hegel, Nietzsche and Heidegger.
